T-Craft

I have bought my second airplane kit; a .20 scale model of the real Taylorcraft airplane. It's the version with the clipped wing and have aerobatic characteristics.

What can we learn about this? Always have connection, I repeat CONNECTION, between battery and receiver.

At the R/C airfield in Karlskoga, Sweden. You must be a very good pilot to master this exercise. At this very moment I have done six landings and every landing with the plane upside down.

At the R/C airfield in Karlskoga, Sweden. What can I say, some days even the best pilots have to taste soil.
2007.05.01

At the R/C airfield in Karlskoga, Sweden. Five minutes in the air and the motor stops. I had to do my very first emergency landing the first time I flew this airplane. The airplane was gliding much better than I thought and the plane touched the ground just a few meters from the end of the airfield.

At the R/C airfield in Karlskoga, Sweden. The airplane finally in the air, some very exciting minutes. It flew very smooth and much faster than I anticipated.

At the R/C airfield in Karlskoga, Sweden. Taxing!
2007.05.01

At the R/C airfield in Karlskoga, Sweden. It was very difficult to trim the carburator, particular on low speed. The engine had a bad habit to stop.

At the R/C airfield in Karlskoga, Sweden. It's finally time for my first flight with this airplane.

New wing struts.
2007.05.12

On the first session at the airfield I really missed an easy way to draw fuel from the tank. I had to lift the plane upside down and use a third protruding tube from the tank. The airplane has now a nice valve on the fuel tube to the engine.

Finished Taylorcraft.

Servo to control the left aileron.
2007.04.28

To get the right balance point I used some soldering tin on the tailgear wire.
2007.04.28

The antenna is mounted inside the fuselage and out underneath the right stabilizer.
2007.04.28

The wheel pants have the same colour as the cowl, more orange than I anticipated.
2007.04.28

What can I say, a 0.30 four stroke engine with a great sound.
2007.04.28

Behind the cowl you can see a mounted bit of aluminium. The silencer is directed towards the aluminium which works as a wall against exhausts and remaining oil.
2007.04.28

The red colour of the cowl is somewhat different than the rest of the airplane, i.e. don't trust colours in catalogs. However the airplane looks great anyway. The protuding tube is used to refuel the tank.
2007.04.28

All the electronics.
2007.03.22

Covering of wing is finished. Now it's time to glue all the hings and install the windshield.

Covering of fuselage is finished.
2007.02.17

It looks great. Some holes are still missing in the cowl, holes for the muffler and needle valve etc.
2007.02.07

Mounted wheel pants.
2007.01.18

The fuselage is almost finished; windshield and some dowels on the back of the fuselage are missing.
2007.01.08

Finally I could drill the mounting holes for the engine and do a temporary installation. The engine is a 4-stroke OS 0.30.
2006.12.14

Beginning of the fuselage. Soon I will try to install the engine.

The front of the wing.
